What your website is doing now, and what it could be doing

Without

  • Visitors can’t tell what you do in the first few seconds.

  • Every small change means emailing someone and waiting.
  • Nobody knows which pages bring in business.

With JLB

  • What you do and who it is for, clear at a glance.
  • Designed for the phone first, fast on every screen.
  • A call button and a form on every page.
  • You edit your own pages, and the site stays yours.
  • Calls and form fills tracked, so you see what works.

Custom web design for Fort Lauderdale businesses

JLB started in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton more than 15 years ago, and South Florida businesses are still a big part of our work. Custom website design, the way we do it, means a site planned around how your customers choose a business like yours: the services you actually sell, the parts of Broward and South Florida you cover, and the one thing you want a visitor to do next. It is designed for phones first, written for people before search engines, and most of our sites launch in 6 to 10 weeks.

  • Custom, not a template. Pages written and designed for your services and the areas you serve.
  • Online stores. Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento, Ecwid and OpenCart.
  • Keep your rankings. We map your old pages to the new ones and set redirects, so what you have earned in Google carries over.
  • Yours to keep. You can edit your own pages, and the site stays yours even if you leave us.
  • One team after launch. Hosting with constant automated monitoring, SEO billed month to month, and Google Ads adjusted weekly.

How a custom website gets built

The order matters more than people expect. Most website problems start when pages are designed before anyone has agreed what each page is for.

  1. Discovery. What you sell, who buys it, which pages bring in business today, and what the site has to do: calls, quote requests, bookings or online orders.
  2. Site plan and content. A page list, what goes on each page, and a redirect map from your old addresses so your search history carries over.
  3. Design. Page designs for phone and desktop, built around your brand rather than a stock theme.
  4. Build. Custom WordPress, or one of the store platforms above, with your forms, call tracking and connections to the tools you already use.
  5. Launch. Redirects in place, titles and descriptions set, and calls and form fills tracked from day one.
  6. After launch. You edit your own pages. If you want us to look after the site, hosting includes constant automated monitoring and malware cleanup.

Web development, not just design

If you searched for a web development company in Fort Lauderdale, you probably need the site to do something, not just look good: take bookings, send leads into a CRM, sell online, or pass orders to accounting or inventory software. We build that into the site, and our systems integration team connects it to CRM, accounting and ERP systems, so nobody retypes data from one screen into another.

  • Online stores, including moves between platforms without losing your product pages in Google.
  • Quote, booking and contact forms that land in a shared inbox or your CRM, not one person’s mailbox.
  • Section 508 accessibility audits.
  • Business-class hosting and support, with malware cleanup included.

How to compare Fort Lauderdale web design companies

Every web design firm in Fort Lauderdale has a good-looking portfolio. The differences show up after launch, so ask about after launch.

  • Who owns the site, the domain and the hosting account? It should be your business. See who owns my website.
  • Can we edit pages ourselves? Without paying for every change or learning code.
  • What happens to our Google rankings? Ask to see the redirect plan before anything goes live.
  • Is it custom or a theme? Both can work. Know which one you are paying for: custom website vs template.
  • Who writes the words? Most delays come from content nobody was assigned to write.
  • Who fixes it when something breaks, and how fast?

The look is rarely the real problem. A local specialty contractor came to us after building its own Squarespace site. It looked reasonable on a desktop, but on a phone the estimate request was buried, the service pages were nearly identical, and form submissions were going to a former employee’s mailbox. The owner thought the site needed more traffic. We sent the form to a shared company mailbox, simplified the quote request on phones, gave each service its own page and set up tracking that counts a submitted form, not a button click.

A written brief makes quotes comparable; use our website RFP template, and see before-and-after redesigns.
