A contractor website wins calls when a homeowner or property manager can answer four questions in under a minute: do you do the job I need, do you work in my area, are you any good, and how do I get a quote. That means a clear page for each service, pages or sections for the areas you serve, a project gallery with real photos, recent reviews, your license and insurance details, and a short quote form plus a tap-to-call phone number on every page. Most of your visitors arrive on a phone, often from a Google search, so all of it has to work on a small screen.
This applies whether you are a general contractor, roofer, electrician, plumber, HVAC company or remodeler. The details below show what to include, what to leave out and how to measure whether the site is working.
One page per main service: roof replacement, roof repair, storm damage, and so on. Each says what is included, typical timelines, common questions and a quote button. A single “Services” page listing everything rarely ranks or converts.
Pages for the main cities or counties you cover, with real local detail such as projects completed there and local permit notes. Avoid copying one page and swapping the city name.
Real before and after photos, grouped by service, with a sentence on the problem, the fix and the location.
Who you are, how long you have been in business, license numbers, insurance, warranties you actually offer and the team people will meet.
Hiring a contractor feels risky, so proof does the selling. BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey 2026 found 97% of consumers read reviews when looking at local businesses, 74% only look at reviews written in the last three months, and 47% will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews.

Most contractor leads come from local searches, where Google shows the map results first. Your website and your Google Business Profile work together.
Our guide to local SEO for contractors goes deeper on rankings.
The structure above works for most contractors, but the emphasis shifts with the type of work.
Track calls from the site, form submissions and which pages they came from. Compare month to month. If people visit service pages but do not call or submit the form, the problem is usually trust or friction: not enough proof, or a form that asks too much. If nobody visits service pages at all, the problem is visibility, and that is an SEO question.
We build custom WordPress websites that your office can update with new projects and reviews, and you keep the site if you ever leave. Most launch in 6 to 10 weeks. We pair the site with local SEO billed month to month, and redirect old pages so existing rankings carry over. You can see before and after examples of our redesigns on our website.

A home page, one page per main service, service area pages, a project gallery, an about page with license and insurance details, a reviews page and a contact or quote page.
Yes. The profile gets you seen in map results, but the website answers detailed questions, shows your projects and gives Google more reasons to rank you. The two work best together.
BrightLocal’s 2026 survey found 47% of consumers will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews, and 74% only look at reviews written in the last three months. Keep a steady flow coming in.
Exact prices are rarely possible, but explaining what affects cost and showing typical ranges for simple jobs builds trust. Only publish numbers you can stand behind.
