The short answer

Shopify B2B is Shopify’s built-in wholesale toolkit. It lets you set up company accounts with multiple locations and buyers, show each company its own catalog and prices, offer net payment terms, enforce quantity rules and volume pricing, and let buyers reorder from a logged-in storefront. As of 2026 it is available on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans as well as Shopify Plus.

The catch is in the limits. On Basic, Grow and Advanced you get three active B2B catalogs across all markets, and you cannot assign a catalog directly to a single company. Deposits and partial payments are Plus only. If you have many price tiers or contract pricing per customer, you will likely need Plus or an app.

What Shopify B2B includes on every plan

According to Shopify’s plan comparison, these features are available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus:

  • Companies and locations. Each wholesale customer is a company with one or more locations, such as a head office and three stores, each with its own shipping address, tax settings and buyers.
  • Location permissions. Buyers can be location admins or ordering-only, so a store manager can order for one location without seeing the others.
  • Net payment terms. Net 15, 30, 60 and similar, with payment reminders, plus ACH (US only) and vaulted credit cards for repeat buyers.
  • Quantity rules. Minimums, maximums and order increments per product, for example a case of 12.
  • Volume pricing. Price breaks at set quantities.
  • Draft orders and reordering. Turn a draft order into an invoice, let buyers submit a checkout as a draft for review, capture PO numbers, and reorder from order history.
  • Sales staff tools. Staff permissions for reps, the Trade theme built for wholesale, a quick order list, and Shopify Flow for automation.

Where Shopify Plus is different

Basic, Grow, Advanced

Up to 3 active B2B catalogs in total, assigned to markets. No direct catalog assignment to companies. No deposits or partial payments. Contextual storefront and checkout on Advanced only.

Shopify Plus

Unlimited market catalogs, plus catalogs assigned directly to specific companies or locations. Deposit requirements, partial payments and payment requests per fulfillment.

Shopify notes that catalogs on the standard plans require the newer version of Shopify Markets. If you assign all three catalogs to one market, you have used the full allowance and must remove or draft one before adding a catalog to another market.

As of 2026, Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term or $2,500 a month on a one-year term, according to Shopify’s Plus pricing page, with a variable platform fee for higher-volume or more complex businesses.

Is the three-catalog limit a problem for you?

A catalog in Shopify B2B is a set of products and prices. Count how many distinct price lists you actually run today:

  • One to three tiers, such as retail partners, distributors and key accounts: the standard plans can work.
  • Separate catalogs for different countries or currencies each use an assignment, so international wholesale burns through the limit fast.
  • Contract prices per customer: you need direct company assignment, which means Plus, or an app that handles customer-specific pricing.
  • Prices that change often from your ERP: plan the sync first, because manual catalog edits do not scale.

A useful test: export last year’s wholesale invoices, group them by the price each customer actually paid for your top 20 products, and see how many groups you get. That number tells you more than any feature list.

How to set up Shopify B2B

  1. Check your plan and Markets setup. Confirm your store is on a plan that supports B2B and on the newer Markets if you are on Basic, Grow or Advanced.
  2. Decide one store or two. Shopify supports blended B2B and direct-to-consumer in one store, or a separate B2B-only store. One store keeps inventory and content in one place. A second store makes sense when wholesale branding, catalog or staff are very different.
  3. Create catalogs. Build each price list, then add volume pricing and quantity rules. If a company has more than one catalog and a product is priced differently in each, Shopify shows the buyer the lowest price, so check overlaps.
  4. Create companies and locations. Import them in bulk if you have more than a handful. Add each location’s shipping address and payment terms, and record any resale or exemption certificates.
  5. Add buyers. Invite contacts to each company and set their location permissions.
  6. Set checkout options. Choose whether orders go straight through on terms or are submitted as drafts for your team to review.
  7. Design the wholesale experience. Show B2B prices only to logged-in buyers, add a quick order list, and make search work by SKU.
  8. Test with real customers. Run a pilot with a few accounts, then open to all.

Limits and gaps to plan around

  • Quotes. Draft orders and checkout-to-draft cover simple quoting, but there is no full quote negotiation workflow. Buyers who need formal quotes with approvals often need an app or a rep-led process.
  • Credit limits. Payment terms are built in, but managing credit limits and account holds is usually done in your ERP or accounting system and synced back.
  • Customer-specific pricing on standard plans. Not available through direct assignment, as covered above.
  • ERP sync. Shopify offers APIs and ERP integrations, but someone still has to map companies, catalogs, orders and invoices between systems.
  • App overlap. Many wholesale apps were built before native B2B existed. Before installing one, check whether native features now cover what you need, so you do not pay for duplicate tools.

Shopify B2B cost: what to budget for

Native B2B features do not carry a separate fee on plans that include them. The real cost drivers are:

  • Your plan tier, and whether catalog or payment needs push you to Plus.
  • Payment processing on card orders. Net-terms orders paid by ACH or check are handled differently, so review fees with your accountant.
  • Apps for quoting, customer-specific pricing or advanced registration forms, if native features fall short.
  • Integration with your ERP, accounting or inventory system, which is often the largest one-time cost.
  • Theme and design work for the wholesale portal, including quick order and account pages.

Questions we hear

Is Shopify B2B only for Shopify Plus?

No. As of 2026, Shopify B2B is available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Standard plans have a limit of three active B2B catalogs and no direct catalog assignment to companies.

Does Shopify B2B support net payment terms?

Yes. Net payment terms, payment reminders, ACH for US buyers and vaulted credit cards are available on all plans that include B2B. Deposits and partial payments require Shopify Plus.

Can I run wholesale and retail in one Shopify store?

Yes. Shopify supports blended B2B and direct-to-consumer selling in one store, with wholesale prices shown only to logged-in company buyers. Some businesses still choose a separate B2B store when branding or catalogs differ a lot.

Do I still need a wholesale app?

Maybe not. Native features now cover company accounts, catalogs, terms, quantity rules and volume pricing. Apps are still useful for formal quote workflows, customer-specific pricing on standard plans and custom registration forms.

How much does Shopify B2B cost?

There is no separate fee for native B2B on plans that include it. You pay your plan fee, processing and any apps. Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term as of 2026.
